“40th Anniversary Celebration – Open Day – Sunday 11th May 2025″
After weeks of planning every little detail and concerns about the traditional British weather, the sun shone brightly on Nether Whitacre Village Hall as residents of all ages came together on Sunday 11th May for a 40th celebratory anniversary – a truly remarkable Open Day, and what, can only be described as “a resounding success” .
The event, formally opened by Tony Rumble (part of the original Committee involved in the fundraising to allow the building of the hall) saw a bustling crowd enjoying an array of different food and treats from Twisted Kitchen’s Wood Fired Pizza, The O’Cs Flavour Town, Mr ‘G’s Ice Creams and Sweet Dreams plus live music performances from the Heart of Sound Mobile Disco, Rockschool Street Dance, Nether Whitacre Village Choir and The Shanty Singers.
The Committee Room was decked out with bunting and Union Jack flags, creating a nostalgic atmosphere where people enjoyed a VE Day themed afternoon tea with a fine selection of homemade cakes and freshly made sandwiches. From youngsters trying their hand at face painting to seniors reminiscing over old village photographs, the day was a true reflection of Nether Whitacre’s tight-knit community.
Committee Chairperson, Lesley Hines, expressed delight at the turnout: “It’s been wonderful to see so many people here, from long-time residents to new faces. Without the extensive support from a network of fantastic volunteers, the “Village Hall Events Committee”, we simply would not be able to host events like this for all the community to enjoy. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make this happen”.
As the day drew to a close, guests left with smiling faces, and a renewed appreciation for the village’s shared history. With discussions already in hand for next year’s celebration, it is hoped that Nether Whitacre’s Open Day could become a beloved annual tradition.
